This includes real-time communication for unexpected issues on the road, assistance with route changes or delays, and immediate help with paperwork or compliance questions. The dispatcher will also handle last-minute load opportunities, resolve disputes, and coordinate with shippers and receivers, allowing your company drivers to focus on driving without worrying about administrative tasks or potential roadblocks, regardless of the time of day or night.

TONU/Detention
A dedicated dispatcher plays a crucial role in ensuring that fees like Truck Order Not Used (TONU) and detention time are paid by the broker or shipper. When such situations arise, the dispatcher proactively communicates with the broker or shipper, presenting a clear and detailed account of the situation, including time-stamped documentation like arrival times, communication logs, and any relevant paperwork.

The dispatcher will negotiate firmly, using industry knowledge and the terms of the contract to argue for the rightful compensation. They may cite past agreements, industry standards, or specific clauses in the contract that support the carrier's claim. If the broker or shipper resists, the dispatcher continues to advocate persistently, emphasizing the importance of honoring these fees to maintain a fair and professional working relationship. The dispatcher's goal is to ensure that the carrier is not unfairly burdened with costs or lost income due to circumstances beyond their control.
3
Broker Negotiation
A dispatcher negotiates with brokers for better rates to maximize the profitability of each load for the carrier they represent. The primary goal is to secure the highest possible rate for the job, ensuring that the driver's time, effort, and expenses are adequately compensated.
